The short answer is: for £100, why not? That’s around 1% of the price of the average Japan holiday. I typically spend 4-5 hours with each client, some of which is in-depth discussion, some of which is itinerary construction (always from scratch), and then there is the unlimited follow-up support by email and WhatsApp.
The way I think about it is this. I’ve been to America a few times – New York, Washington DC, Disneyworld as a kid – but I’ve always dreamed of a big American road trip. I have a trove of images in my head that come from other peoples holiday photos, Americana and alt-rock bands, and movies from Dazed & Confused to Thelma & Louise to Forrest Gump. Then there’s random place names – Wichita. Chattanooga. Zion national park… and of course I’d have to make it to Seattle to see the home of the big 90s grunge bands….
Yes, I could plot it all out myself but I’d spend the whole time wondering what I could be missing. It would be a real shame to go all that way and spend serious money and risk missing out on things I didn’t happen to read or hear about.
I’d want someone to bounce ideas off, someone who has been there, done it and keeps up to speed with new hotel openings and suchlike. Then there’s all those questions about what should be booked in advance and how, whether a particular tour is best done with a guide, whether there’s any festivals or special events that coincide with my trip…
I’m guessing that Japan is something like this for you. Maybe you’ve been to Tokyo and Kyoto before. But there’s a bigger, fuzzy picture in your head of the beauty and brilliance of Japan that comes from all the Japanese culture you’ve absorbed through art and books and movies and so on over the years.
